RAISED FLOOR FOR INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT CONTROL TOWER

The project of the new airport in Mexico City is the result of the growing passenger demand that the city has developed through the last years. The design was a collaboration between the architectural firms FOSTER AND PARTNERS, FR-EE and Netherlands Airport Consultants with structural engineering from ARUP, and covers an area of nearly 743,000 square meters.

POLYGROUP collaborated with the project of the New International Airport of Mexico City (N.A.I.C.M.) in the control tower, which is composed by approximately 6.000m2, providing a raised access floor system GAMAFLOR FULL STEEL HEAVY MEDIUM. The system obtains the highest classifications of resistance to loads, fire and resistance to moisture in the market. The use of this raised access floor system in this project in Mexico provides a total guarantee of accessibility, stability and the possibility of channeling any type of installation under it; one of the many advantages of the raised technical floor.

For the design phase, the issue of seismicity was taken with special care, since Mexico City has a high seismic risk that directly affects all the structural elements contained in any new building. In addition, all new buildings worldwide demand more and more environmental certifications every day, so it is extremely important to keep products updated and competent with the demands of the market.

This project was developed jointly with METRIKA, a company located in Mexico which will participate in the technical solutions necessary from the design phase to the installation of the raised access floor system.
