Some projects mark a before and after in the history of a destination. The Princess Grand Jamaica, developed in Green Island, Hanover, by the Spanish hotel chain Princess Hotels, is one of them — the first hotel with a casino in Jamaica, and the largest foreign investment in the island’s tourism history.
The casino, operated by Grupo Orenes — one of Spain’s leading gaming operators — and built by INCO LAND LIMITED, required a raised access floor solution capable of meeting the most demanding technical requirements of a high-end gaming environment: heavy and continuous loads, strict electrostatic control, full accessibility to technical installations and a premium finish compatible with the brand’s interior design concept.
For this installation, Polygroup supplied 1,000 m² of GAMAFLOR Full Steel HEAVY MEDIUM panels without factory covering, ready for subsequent installation of the client’s custom-designed carpet — making the floor system the structural and technical foundation for one of the Caribbean’s most anticipated gaming and hospitality openings.
A landmark project for Jamaica and the Caribbean
The Princess Grand Jamaica features 509 sea-view suites, three swimming pools, eight bars and nine restaurants, operating under an all-inclusive model. Together with its sister property, Princess Senses The Mangrove, it represents the largest foreign investment in Jamaica’s tourism history.
The casino — named Adamas Grand Casino — is fully integrated into the hotel complex, marking the official arrival of regulated casino gaming in Jamaica. For Grupo Orenes, it forms part of an international expansion strategy that positions the company as a key operator in the Caribbean gaming market.
Why GAMAFLOR Full Steel HM for a casino environment
The choice of the GAMAFLOR Full Steel HM system responds directly to the technical demands of a high-end casino floor — an environment where structural performance, electrostatic control and long-term durability are non-negotiable.
Key technical characteristics that drove the specification:
- 2 electrowelded steel sheets injected at high pressure with lightweight cement and epoxy anticorrosive finish — providing maximum structural rigidity and complete dimensional stability under the continuous heavy loads generated by gaming machines, technical furniture and intensive foot traffic.
- High load capacity — the Full Steel HM delivers the structural performance required to support the static and dynamic loads of a casino environment simultaneously and continuously, without deformation or loss of levelling over time.
- A1 fire classification — mandatory in public leisure facilities and entertainment spaces receiving large numbers of people.
- 0% moisture absorption — the inert steel-cement composition ensures complete dimensional stability regardless of the humidity and temperature conditions of a Caribbean environment.
- Antistatic properties — the GAMAFLOR structure dissipates electrostatic charges generated in the subfloor, conducting them to the most favourable earth grounding points. Essential in environments with high concentrations of electronic gaming equipment.
- Full underfloor accessibility — independently removable panels allow rapid access to electrical, data and HVAC installations without disrupting gaming operations above.
Panels without factory covering: flexibility for premium design
The GAMAFLOR Full Steel HM panels were supplied without factory covering — ready for the subsequent installation of the client’s custom-designed carpet. This configuration gives the interior design team complete freedom over the final floor aesthetic, allowing the carpet specification to be defined and installed in coordination with the broader design programme of the Adamas Grand Casino.
In a high-end gaming environment where the floor finish is an integral part of the brand experience, this approach ensures that technical performance and design intent are fully aligned — without one compromising the other.
1,000 m² at the heart of Jamaica’s first casino
The Princess Grand Jamaica project is one of the most strategically significant installations in Polygroup’s portfolio in the Americas — and a strong example of how the GAMAFLOR Full Steel system delivers the structural performance, electrostatic control and long-term reliability demanded by the world’s most exacting gaming environments.
At Polygroup, we work alongside contractors, architects and project teams in the hospitality and gaming sectors to define the most suitable raised access floor solution for each project — from the initial technical consultation through to supply.
