ACOUSTIC ACCESS FLOOR SYSTEMS
USES AND APPLICATIONS
Acoustic raised access floor systems have properties that help improve the quality of the interior environment of the spaces where they are installed. In addition to other architectural elements such as wall and ceiling coverings, the acoustics within a space is significantly improved with a raised floor system, compared to spaces that do not have prior planning of these components.
Raised floor systems create an air chamber between the support base slab and the floor finish called the plenum. This plenum is created from the elevation of the floor itself through a steel structure, which has damping elements between each of its components. The importance of this air chamber, or plenum, resides in the fact that the air functions as a buffer zone, allowing the absorption of sound impact, reducing the transmission of noise.
In addition to the access floor structure, it is important to choose a suitable floor covering to maintain good absorption of the incident sound and reduce the transmission of noise.
Among these coverings, carpets and textile coverings stand out, due to the material’s own density which allows greater sound absorption, favoring the reduction of annoying sounds between different spaces. It is important to note that when the floor coverings are applied from the factory at the time of production, the raised access floor system will maintain all its registrability properties in addition to the acoustic properties acquired.
